Glen Tanar

January 10th 2010

The Boat House
Lots of snow this year, I love it, look forward to getting loads of ski-ing this year or so I thought.  Glen Tanar, not a day for fishing, honest there is a loch under all that snow, but what kind of loch creature leaves a hill like that in the middle of the loch.  Mike wouldnt let me go out to investigate.  I bowed to his superior judgement.  So pleased there had been some vehicles around the tracks walking was reasonably easy, but cross country ski-ing would have been so much more fun.

As we were leaving a dejected voice echoes "wont be fishing here for a few months".

Snowy trails in Glen Tanar

When these photos were taken little did we know that it would be the last day out for me for a few months, and that thoughts of ski-ing were the last thing on my mind.

Its surprising how quickly you learn to adjust to something that a few hours previously would have been completely alien to you.
Icicles on the Game Store

Seven hours after this photo was taken I was lying flat on my back in ARI with a broken vertebrae, it was no fun, but on reflection the circumstances are enough to have you rolling around on the floor in hysterics, although it was to be some months before I would be rolling anywhere.

Our Profile explained

Ok well the motorbike bit is easily explained

Thats our 2 at the front, multi coloured one is his, the blue 1 is hers.
So pleased we got this trip in when we did as the road to Applecross is now closed and will be for the next few months to repair a section of the road.

GEOCACHING

A geocaching view

Ok geocaching might take a bit more explaining.
geocaching
click the link it will tell all
basically you go on a treasure hunt, armed with a hand held gps device, box of treasure to swap, and sometimes you will have a traveller like the one on the photo.
Geocaching has taken us to some fantastic places that we would have otherwise not have know existed.

In the caching world we are B.bird.
FLY FISHING

Mike loves to go fly fishing on the Loch at Glen Tanar  peaceful, plenty fish to keep him happy and a few rabbits for Mutley to chase around.

This beauty was caught on Loch Heath in Glen Clova, it was then expertly grilled on the BBQ at Gathering in the Glens, an annual Geocaching event.

Mike does the catching, Liz takes care of the gutting and eating.  However on this occasion the fish was shared with fellow cachers The Bramleys.

Mike you really dont know what you are missing I think I get the best deal from your days out fishing X x x

HILLWALKING

What ever the weather, what ever the season hopefully these 2 photos will say all that needs to be said about the attraction of the Scottish Mountains hold.  They don’t need to be Munro sized, the sun doesn’t need to shine, all I need is a rucksack, a map preferably the pink covered OS one, a compass and a few hours of daylight, and I am in my element.   A flask full of hot bean chilli helps when the weather is a bit on the cooler side.

Meall Garbh & Beinn nan Eachenan from Meall nan Tarmachan  summit

Ok well that’s it for now, that’s the things we do in general, sometime I will get around to filling in the details and share some of the exploits that make us Milimut.......

Lets get Started

Ok its about time we started to keep notes what with age and memory stuff.
Who are we?
Mi  well thats Mike
li   always trailing behind thats Liz
mut  our adorable dog Mutley

Thats us Mili

Not the best photo of Mutley.
Sometimes Mutley gets to go hill walking but only if he promises not to try to catch the local wildlife.
